Use Jp Bullet Witch Costumes/Missions on US version

March 1st, 2007

costumes

Bullet Witch is finally out in the US, but none of the extra costumes & missions are available. You know the Japanese have the additional costumes/missions already so you log into your Jp account (Hey, we know you have one. How else can you get the Armored Core 4 demo early?) and download the files. No problem, they’re all free. You load up Bullet Witch and… it can’t find them. WTF!?

Well, the US version of Bullet Witch carries a new folder number (494707DB) and your files are saved to the Japanese folder number (434107D1). So what do you do? Easy! If you have the Datel transfer kit (attached XSATA or free-standing XPORT), you can port them over.

  • Extract folder 434107D1 from Partition 3 > Content > 434107D1
  • Change the folder number to 494707DB
  • Insert folder 494707DB back into Partition 3 > Content

And you are all done. You can now access the additional costumes from the Options menu. Beats waiting on Atari, doesn’t it?

A collection of the must see, for this moment:

Light Games

January 23rd, 2007

Project Blinkenlights is an interactive light show which can be overridden at any time by a cell phone user to play a game.. with the building lights. Tetris, Pong, Breakout, and Pac-Man are at your fingertips if you live in the right city.

Who you gonna call? Ghostbusters!

No doubt fan-work, but ultimate cool no matter what. AICN originally started the ball rolling and Joystiq picked it up like some many others afterwards. Most refer the the style as Gears of War, though most seem to forget that is really the Unreal® Engine 3. Whether it’s Unreal or perhaps Half-Life 2’s Source engine from Valve, who cares as long as we one day get something like this game from Zootfly or another studio.

Running around NYC, Ecto-2 (the Ecto-1 has been refitted with a new car), Venkman news conference (real-time in-game engine with movie dialogue), Ecto-2 driving through the streets.

Kojima wants 50 GB Blu-Ray

January 11th, 2007

Hideo Kojima has commented, “Blu-Ray is too small for MGS4″, on the current PS3 Standard disc (25 Gigs on a single layer Blu-Ray disc).

While Hideo Kojima doesn’t necesarily care much about HD, he says there’s a lot you can do with sound that would fill up a Blu-Ray disc really quickly. On top of everything else in the game this apparently makes the game go way past the 25 GB limit. And Kojima said that he wants to use the new higher spec 50 GB Blu-Ray for MGS4.

So how many Xbox 360 discs does it take to make a Kojima happy? 18? 50? Blue Dragon has already seen 3 discs in Japan…

J-idol VS J-idol (Mario-style)

January 10th, 2007

Needless to say, the next generation has quickly forgotten classic games like Mario Bros. Oddly enough, the girls are more than willing to turn on each other when their lack of skills goes from an experienced gamer to their fellow idol guests..

Idol Mario Bros.

Wii vs PS3

November 19th, 2006

In the great debate over which would I rather own right now, I am a heavy fan of the Nintendo Wii. So much so that after waiting all night with someone else who was going to get one, I bought one too. Now I just need Excite Truck, Zelda, and Trauma Center: Second Opinion.

Wii

November 2nd, 2006

When I heard the name, I thought Nintendo had lost their minds. The cool name Revolution, despite being just the codename, sounded so much better than Wii. I stand corrected. Despite the odd controller, silly name, and lack of being able to compete graphically with the 360 & PS3; the Nintendo Wii is going to kick some serious ass this Fall.

The game system features a dynamic design. And small, oh lord is it small. I was shocked that the estimated size of about 3 DVD cases is really true. The controller is tiny, light, yet functional. One of the local Gamestop stores had a display setup and turned on, more than I can say for anywhere else which have the units unplugged. Naturally I watched one person playing and picked up that I would have to hand over my driver’s license to be able to use the controller. With the exchange done, I finished up the last person’s game of Excite Truck and then started my own race on the same snow level.

“Woah..” is the best term for this experience and the same one everyone seems to utter at first with awe. Hands in front of me like a steering wheel, I drove my off-road truck up and down the hills and raced through the snow trying to keep up with the other trucks crashing into me. Every floating “i” bubble I hit would change the surround terrain from simple hills into mind blowing mountains to climb. Here and there you slip off into the brush or water, but the sensitivity can be solved with a little practice. Ultimately, my thought of “maybe” turned into a full on “hell yes!” on wanting one of these.

The packaging design is smart. It’s simple, very open & white, with the Wii featured in the center. It looks like something from the Apple iPod line and will easily appeal to the same crowd. I give Nintendo’s marketing team major kudos for this move and the name “Wii” which will also draw in those fans of Apple iPod products.

If and when you get a chance, go stop by your local Gamestop store to see if their display is functioning yet. You are going to want to experience this one for yourself and join the converted.

Gears of War Trailer

October 31st, 2006

The Gears of War trailer is making it’s rounds on the net. Check it out on Xbox.com or Gametrailers.com. Very well done, although part of me prefers the 30 second TV edit I’ve seen popping up on the network channels.
